Level 1: Basics Exercise 4 of 50 Free

One rate for every row

A Google Sheets formula exercise from Sheetsdrill. Solve it with a formula bar on a live sheet in your browser, and it is checked the moment you submit.

The task

Convert each price from dollars to euros using the exchange rate in F1. Fill C2 and C3. Lock the rate with dollar signs so the same formula could be filled down the column.

What this exercise teaches

When a formula is filled down, relative references shift a row at a time. $F$1 stays put, so one rate cell drives the whole column.

A hint if you get stuck

Typing $ before the column letter and the row number, as in $F$1, makes the reference absolute.
