Rank without RANK
A Google Sheets formula exercise from Sheetsdrill. Solve it with a formula bar on a live sheet in your browser, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Rank the reps by sales, 1 for the highest. Count how many reps sold more than this one and add 1. Use COUNTIF, and fill C2 and C3 with a formula that could be filled down.
What this exercise teaches
This is what RANK does under the hood, and the same pattern gives you rank within a group by adding a second condition in COUNTIFS. Ties share a rank, as in RANK.
A hint if you get stuck
The criterion is ">"&B2: greater than this row's sales. The range being counted must be locked, the cell being compared must not.
