Tidy up pasted names
A Google Sheets formula exercise from Sheetsdrill. Solve it with a formula bar on a live sheet in your browser, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Names were pasted with extra spaces and random capitals. Clean them up: no leading or trailing spaces, single spaces between words, and the first letter of each word in capitals. Fill B2 and B3 using TRIM and PROPER.
What this exercise teaches
Stray spaces are invisible but break lookups and COUNTIF, because "Lee " is not "Lee". TRIM first, then PROPER, is the standard cleanup before a name column is used as a key.
A hint if you get stuck
TRIM removes the leading and trailing spaces and collapses runs of spaces to one. PROPER capitalizes the first letter of every word. Nest one inside the other.
