Amount inside a sentence
A Google Sheets formula exercise from Sheetsdrill. Solve it with a formula bar on a live sheet in your browser, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
Build the message for the invoice email in B4: the word Total, a colon, a space, then the amount in B3 shown as dollars with a thousands separator and two decimals, as in Total: $1,234.50. Use TEXT.
What this exercise teaches
Joining a number with & drops its formatting, so you would get Total: 1274.4. TEXT applies a format and returns text, which is what a label or an email body needs.
A hint if you get stuck
"Total: "&TEXT(B3, "$#,##0.00"). In the format, # is an optional digit, 0 is a required digit, the comma turns on grouping and .00 fixes two decimals.
